Mommy Woes

I was talking to a friend who has 4 kids the other day, and she was saying how she is always yelling at her kids especially the older 2. But when somebody asked her 8 yr old what his mother means to him his response was, "My mom is never mean to me." She was so surprised and it made her realize that in the time that we have our children there are very few years we have with them before they really do start thinking that we are mean and don't understand anything. We should love our children for making silly mistakes for being too emotional for silly things like they didn't get as much ice cream as the other person or what ever the case might be. Or for getting into make-up, coloring on the carpet with non-washable markers, eating your mothers day chocolates, or cutting their own hair. I've been having a hard time with this lately and it's nice to be put in my place by another mother going through the same things, because we do only have them when they are little for such a short time. I need to relax and enjoy them for who they are. Now for a happy moment from Madelyn. She has been having nightmares lately and last night when we were saying prayers she said that she wanted to thank Heavenly Father for laying down with her last night when she had a bad dream. I asked her if he does that all of the time and she said that he did. Kids are the best! They give me gray hairs and stress and pimples but they also give me great laugh lines!

that is so sweet! I also need to remember that they are small for such a short and not to sweat the small stuff. Thanks for the reminder!

it's hard to remember that...that time flies by and they're only little once. We tend to look over the important things to take care of those things we will have the rest of our life to attend to!! Just like the song by Billy Dean, Let Them Be Little. It goes a little something like this:

So let them be little,
'Cause they're only that way for a while.
Give 'em hope, give them praise,
Give them love every day.
Let 'em cry, let 'em giggle,
Let 'em sleep in the middle,
Oh, but let them be little
